What do Chiropractic Doctors do? or What is involved in one’s initial visits?

  • When a patient begins chiropractic care, he/she gives the doctor his/her case history. This history may include surgeries, family history, accidents, and the details of the onset of the patient’s condition. The doctor then gives the patient a complete orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic exam, testing the operations of the nervous system. In order to discover structural problems in the spinal column, the doctor may take x-rays. On the next visit, the doctor explains to the patient the findings of these examinations and recommends a plan of treatment if appropriate to the patient’s condition. If you are comfortable with the doctors recommendations, your initial care will typically begin at this time.If your condition is severe, the doctor will generally try to implement some type of pain management on the first visit if it is determined to be safe an appropriate. Every patient’s progress is supervised through occasional examinations and progress reports.
